Gulnara Roll is the Head of Cities Unit at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Climate Change Division in Paris. The UNEP Cities Unit provides support to cities in accelerating their climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts; and mainstreaming environmental sustainability into related policies and programmes. Gulnara is with the UN since 2009; she held various roles at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva and the UN Regional Commissions Office in New York. Before her tenure with the UN, Gulnara worked at the International Association for the Promotion of Scientific Cooperation in Brussels, Belgium. She also has experience in academia and international programme management in Tartu, Estonia. Gulnara's educational background is in Environmental Sciences and Policy, and Human Geography.
