Aloke works as Senior Climate Change Specialist at the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and is the coordinator of UrbanShift. He leads the development of the GEF’s sustainable cities programming strategy and global partnership with cities, urban networks, UN agencies, MDBs and other organizations. Aloke also manages climate change adaptation projects at the GEF, with a specific focus on the least developed and highly vulnerable countries.
Aloke has more than 18 years of experience in non-profit, private and donor organizations in the areas of nature-based solutions, clean energy, sustainable livelihoods, urban sustainability and climate-resilient infrastructure. He is passionate about developing sustainability solutions at the intersection of environmental and public policy. Aloke holds an MPA degree in Environment Policy from Indiana University Bloomington, United States and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from India.
