This virtual convening created a space for participants to discuss strategies for supporting biodiversity and low-carbon development across China.
The first National Dialogue for China created a platform for discussing strategies to support biodiversity and low-carbon development across the country. Convening representatives from the World Bank, China Center for Urban Development, Ministry of Finance, ICLEI East Asia Secretariat, and the cities of Chengdu, Chongqing, and Ningbo, this dialogue facilitated a comprehensive discussion among national and local government participants.
Keynote speeches from local subject-matter experts framed the dialogue, emphasizing the need for Chinese cities to prioritize urban biodiversity and low-carbon development. Participants explored the latest developments and challenges in implementing these measures, addressing issues ranging from policy governance to financing.
This virtual convening fostered a deeper understanding and collaboration across different levels of government, paving the way for future dialogues and exchanges. It also strengthened the commitment to addressing the cross-cutting challenges and goals associated with urban biodiversity and low-carbon development, enhancing the prospects for coordinated and effective action in China.
